How We Overcame a Lighting Crisis Without Breaking the Bank

Our spin studio in Singapore faced a serious challenge when the lights went dark for nearly a month. What seemed like a minor wiring issue quickly escalated into a near-complete system failure. The original installer was unreachable, and other professionals insisted on installing an entirely new system, which would have cost thousands. That expense would have forced us to raise prices for our riders, something we wanted to avoid. This blog shares how we tackled the problem step-by-step, kept costs down, and restored the studio’s lighting in a way that keeps the space welcoming and affordable.

The Initial Problem and Our First Attempts

When the lights went out, it was clear something was wrong with the wiring. We first tried contacting the original installer, but he was no longer available. Other installers we reached out to said they would only come if we hired them to install a brand-new lighting system. This was the easy but expensive option.

We knew spending thousands on a new setup would mean raising prices for our riders. Many come to our Singapore studio to unwind and ride without stress. Keeping the space affordable matters deeply to us. So, we decided to take a different approach: break down the problem and find experts for each part of the system.

Breaking Down the System

Our lighting system consists of four main parts:

  • Pixel strips (the actual lights)

  • Power supply

  • Controller

  • Computer programming that runs the controller

We started by sending the light controller back to the supplier. They checked it for free, reviewed our programming, and even came down to help troubleshoot. The supplier suspected the power supply was faulty, so we replaced it. Unfortunately, the lights still didn’t work.

Finding Help and Collaborating

Since the original installer was unavailable, we hired a programmer who wasn’t familiar with our setup but was willing to try. We paid him for his effort, and he worked closely with us to understand the system.

Next, we ordered new pixel strips and hired a contractor to handle the wiring. The contractor wasn’t highly experienced with this kind of setup, so we created a detailed wiring diagram. We consulted AI tools and the controller supplier to make sure the diagram was accurate.

Troubleshooting and Persistence

Even after installing the new pixel strips and wiring, the lights still didn’t work correctly. We went through more troubleshooting and made several tweaks to the wiring and programming. It took patience and persistence, but finally, the system came back to life.

Why Lighting Matters in Our Spin Studio

Lighting moves the soul. The right lights lift the energy in the room, bring out more smiles, and make every ride feel better. Some riders told us they actually love the darkness and fairy lights, so now we can offer both options.

Our goal was to restore the lighting without breaking the bank or raising prices. By breaking down the problem, finding experts for each part, and working closely with suppliers and contractors, we kept the space accessible and affordable for everyone.

What We Learned and What You Can Take Away

  • Don’t rush to replace everything. Sometimes, breaking down the problem and fixing parts step-by-step saves money.

  • Find experts willing to learn. Our programmer wasn’t familiar with the system but was open to trying.

  • Use detailed diagrams and consult multiple sources. This helped our contractor install the wiring correctly.

  • Be patient and persistent. Troubleshooting complex systems takes time.

  • Keep your community in mind. We didn’t want to raise prices because our riders rely on this space to relax and spin.

If you face a similar challenge, consider breaking down the problem and seeking help for each part. It might take longer, but it can save money and keep your space welcoming.

Our spin studio in Singapore is now ready for riders to enjoy the perfect lighting, whether they want bright energy or cozy darkness. We hope this story inspires others to find creative solutions without giving up on what matters most.
